
Boston Militia Women's Football Staff, Somerville, MA, May 12, 2012


The Philadelphia Belles exhibited courage and determination but were no match against the overwhelming Boston Militia Women's Football Team.
The Militia scored with only 2 minutes and 22 seconds gone in the first quarter on a 44 yard scamper by Chante Bonds. Danielle Resha kicks her first of 8 extra points on the evening and the Militia held a 7-0.
On the next series Allison Cahill hit Amy Saur on a 32 yard pass and with Resha’s extra point kick the Militia were in command with a 14-0 lead in the first quarter with the clock registering 10:14.
The Militia defense exhibited superior size and speed over the Belles and shout down the Belles in the first two offensive series and forced a fumble that was recovered by Jennifer Powell at the Belles 33 yard line.
Whitney Zelee scored with 8:07 on the clock and Resha extra point kick was good for a Militia lead of 21-0.
The Belles fumbled that was recovered by Shauntay Stewart at the 30 yard line. Allison Cahill hit Chante Bonds on a 12 yard pass. Resha’s kick made the score 28-0 with 6:04 left in the first quarter.
The Militia scored two more times in the second quarter with Whitney Zelee running in from 11 yards out and a Resha kick made the score 35-0.
Cahill than hit Bonds on an 11 yard pass for a TD and Resha made the score 42-0 at the half.
The only score in the third quarter was on an 11 yard pass from Cahill to Christine Christine Kelley . Resha’s kick made the score 49-0.
In the fourth quarter, Zelee ran in from 4 yard line for a TD. Resha’s kick was good and the Militia lead was 56-0.
Dorothy Donaldson closed out the scoring with a 39 yard burst and the extra point kick was blocked by the Belles. That closed out the scoring for the day with the Militia in the lead at 62-0.
Leading the Militia were Whitney Zelee with 114 yards on 8 carries, Dot Donaldson with 86 yards and Chante Bonds with 56 yards in the rushing department.
Cahill completed 6 of 9 passes for 91 yards and 3 TD’s. Lucia Robinson completed 2 of 3 passes with one interception.
Amy Saur caught 3 passes for 39 yards and one TD. Christine Kelley caught 2 passes for 34 yards and one TD and Bonds caught 2 passes for 20 yards and one TD.
Danielle Resha made 8 of 9 extra point kicks.
The defense was led by Molly Goodwin and Bonds with 4 tackles each followed by Jennifer Olivieri had a sack and a tackle for a loss.
Boston Militia’s next game will be against the powerful DC Divas at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, MA on Saturday, June 19 with kickoff set for 6pm. This promises to be a hard hitting game.
