
Boston Militia Women's Football Staff, Enola, PA, 4/28/2012


The Boston Militia continued its march into the 2012 season with a 31-0 win over the previously unbeaten Keystone Assault.
The Militia won the coin toss and took possession at the Keystone Assault 47 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Allison Cahill hit Amy Saur for a 14 yard reception and a first down. On the next play, Whitney Zelee ran around the left side for a 33 yard touchdown and with the extra point kick by Danielle Resha, the Militia started the day with a 7-0 lead with only 28 seconds gone in the first quarter.
Stacey Tiamfook and with Resha's extra point kick took a 14-0 lead with 9:16 showing on the clock in the First Quarter.
The teams exchanged possessions on the next 2 possessions, both defenses stepping up to stop the other team’s offense. The first quarter ended with the Militia leading 14-0.
The Militia started the second quarter at their own 32 yard line and moved the ball in 9 plays and into the end zone capped off with a 7 yard run by Tiamfook and the extra point by Resha was good. The Militia took a commanding 21-0 lead at 10:51 of the second quarter. Both offenses moved the ball but were unable sustain a drive and the first half ended with the Militia hold the lead at 21-0.
To start the third quarter, the Militia defense stopped the Assault when Jennifer Powell intercepted a pass and gave the Militia offense the ball with 11:49 in the quarter. The Militia marched down field but was stopped at the Keystone 17 yard line where Resha than kicked a 27 yard field goal for a 24-0 Militia lead.
The Assault fumbled on the next series and Adrienne Smith to Chante Bonds with Resha’s extra point boot the Militia took a 31-0 lead.
The Militia offensive game was led by Stacey Tiamfook with 67 yards on the ground and Whitney Zelee with 48 yards. Allison Cahill led the passing game on 13-22 attempts and 164 yards. Amy Saur had 4 receptions for 56 yards and Emily Weinberg had 3 receptions for 41 yards. Adrienne Smith had completed a 23 yard TD pass to Bonds.
The Militia Defense was outstanding in stopping the Keystone attack throughout the day and was led by Eddy with 5 tackles and Bonds with 4 tackles. Other key contributors for the defense were Deirdre Hiort with 2 tackles for losses and one sack and a number of pressures on the Assault QB to go along with her 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery, Molly Goodwin and Jennifer Olivieri each forced a fumble. Recovering fumbles for the Militia were Goodwin and Eddy.
