
BOSTON MILITIA WIN IWFL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 39-7
The Boston Militia defense was the MVP (s) of the game and the consistent and talented offensive provide all scoring leadership to shut down the powerful Sacramento Sirens 39-7 on Saturday night at the Round Rock ISD Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Sacramento won the opening coin toss and elected to defer until the second half. This then allowed the Boston Militia offense to start the game and consume 5 minutes and 48 seconds to score the game's initial TD.
The defense of the Militia overpowered the Sirens offensive line and stopped every drive that the Sacramento team started. Molly Goodwin, Vicky Eddy, Nikita Payne, Brianna Gallo, JP Powell, Jessica Penta, Jenny Olivieri and Raxan English the defense dominated the Sirens. Sharyn Wacht, Jenny Brown, Sade Williams, Jessica Cabrera, Kathryn Tylander, Mia Brickhouse, Kathryn Schwartz, Heidi Epstien and Deirdre Hiort held the Sirens off the scoreboard until the 52 second mark of the fourth quarter.
The offensive unit was lead by QB Allison Cahill with 133 passing yards and 2 TD passes and 39 rushing yards. The Militia opened the scoring in the first quarter on a Mia Brickhouse 16 touchdown at the 9:22 mark of the game. Ashley Snyder kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead.
With 3:40 seconds left before half time, Ashley kicked a 36 yard field goal. After the kickoff to the Sirens, the Militia defense stopped the Sirens and forced a short punt. The Militia took control of the ball at the opponent's 45 yard line. Dorothy Donaldson picked up 9 yards on first down. Allison Cahill than hit Amy Saur on a 36 yard TD pass and Snyder kicked the PAT and the Militia went into the locker room at half time leading 17-0.
In 90 degree temperature and a relative humidity hovering around 75%, the Militia defense stepped onto the field to open the second half with one goal - win this game. They did just that and were selected the MVP(s)!
In the third quarter, Stacey Tiamfook scored on 9 yard run and Mia Brickhouse ran in a 2-point conversion for a 25-0 Militia lead. With 11:11 left in the quarter, Allison Cahill hit Amy Saur on a 36 yard TD and Snyder kicked the PAT and the Militia were in control by a score of 32-0.
In the Fourth Quarter, Dawn Herring showed her speed and sprinted 42 yards into the end zone for a final TD for the Boston contingent. Snyder kicked the PAT.
The Sirens scored with 52.4 seconds to go in the game.
